ARA supports, with effort and donations, free sterilization clinics. We work with Dr. Alejandro Garcia Guevara to provide low cost/free sterilizations for dogs and cats in the community.
To finance the sterilization clinics ARA holds fund-raising events. Two major efforts have been undertaken. The Annual Christmas Bazaar is only two years old but was an immediate hit.
Also, a bilingual Manzanillo cookbook is in the works. It will have broad appeal both for local residents and as a souvenir for vacationers.
In 2007 ARA began hosting “Blessings of the Animals” events at local churches. We intend that this will be an annual event which will enable us to make connections in the local neighborhoods as we spread the word about the services we provide to improve the well-being of animals and the people among whom they live.
About ARAARA meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 11:30 a.m. at Hotel Playa de Santiago. All concerned citizens are invited to attend and to participate as we reach out to the community and officials at all government levels to help relieve the needless suffering of street animals while reducing the danger to public health represented by a runaway population of unvaccinated animals.
